Trainee Casework Assistants

We are one of the leading firms in the UK for immigration and refugee law.

We are recruiting Trainee Casework Assistants to join our committed team of over thirty specialists.

This is an entry level position suitable for those taking their first step on a career in immigration and refugee law.

You will primarily be working on legal aid cases under supervision of a solicitor.

On joining us we will register you as a Trainee Casework Assistant under the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme.

Within 6 months of joining us we will support you through the Level 1 accreditation exam to become a Level 1 Casework Assistant. And within a further 12 months we will support you through the Level 2 accreditation exam to become a Level 2 Senior Caseworker.

No previous case work experience is required. You will be given full training.

You must have a good academic record (a minimum 2:1 degree) and be able to demonstrate commitment to working in a legal aid firm and working for migrants and refugees. Ideally you should be able to show a commitment to this area of law through your academic studies or previous work experience, including voluntary or campaigning work.

This position is suitable for those seeking a long term career as a caseworker and for those studying for their GDL, LPC or BVC part-time. Paid and unpaid study leave available for those studying part-time. For those looking to qualify as a solicitor this position usually leads to a Period of Recognized Training on achieving Level 2 Senior Caseworker status.

Successful candidates will be appointed initially on a fixed term contract with extensions subject to passing the required accreditation exams.
