We are an award winning, market-leading niche immigration law firm based in Nottingham City Centre. Due to internal progression, we are now looking for a highly motivated IAAS Accredited Caseworker.

This role is within our Asylum team where the focus is on asylum and human rights law. The successful candidate will have responsibility for an active asylum caseload involving, as appropriate to their level of accreditation, all aspects of asylum work including unaccompanied minors, adult asylum claims, fresh claims, extension applications, appeals and higher court work.

It is therefore essential that the right candidate has:

  • Accreditation to Level 1 (Casework Assistant) of the Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme operated by the Law Society; or
  • Accreditation to Level Two (Senior Caseworker) of the Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme operated by the Law Society.
  • Experience of having sole conduct of an active asylum case load - (Senior Caseworkers only).
  • Experience of preparing appeals to the IAC (Immigration and Asylum Chamber)- (Senior Caseworkers only).
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Pleasant and tactful manner in dealing with clients, both in person and on the telephone.
  • Use of computer packages, subject to adequate training.
  • Eligible to work full time in the UK.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English; both orally and in writing.
  • Commitment to assisting those requiring protection in the UK.

It is also desirable that the right candidate has:

  • Experience of working under a Legal Aid Agency contract.
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in any discipline in the UK or overseas.
  • Experience of meeting both strict external deadlines and internal financial targets.
  • Experience of representing unaccompanied asylum seeking children and victims of trafficking/modern slavery (Senior Caseworkers only).
  • Experience of preparing appeals to the higher courts, judicial review applications and resisting removals (Senior Caseworkers only).


1. Pay Scale – £16,500-£23k depending on experience and level of accreditation.
2. Annual Leave – 20 days per annum (plus public holidays) rising by 1 day after every holiday year worked, to a maximum of 25 days.
3. Flexible working hours and availability of working some days from home- subject to the needs of the Company and agreement with the team Director.
4. Nottingham City Centre location, with excellent transport links.
5. Auto enrolment to our pension scheme after 3 months employment.
6. Modern open plan office.
