Immigration Advice Service - Caseworkers

IAS is a dynamic national immigration and law company regulated by the OISC (Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner with offices in Birmingham, Glasgow, Hounslow, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield.

We are recruiting experienced OISC registered caseworkers at any level across the UK.

We are looking for well- motivated and experienced caseworkers who wish to work for a well- established and forward thinking company.

The salary being offered is from £18,000 p.a. depending on OISC Level and experience.

Job Title: Caseworker

Overall Purpose of the Job

Undertake casework and manage a caseload up to level of competence.

To provide written and verbal representation, including advocacy in court, for clients seeking assistance in the Immigration/Asylum law field in accordance with Legal Aid Specialist Quality Mark Standards and legal policy.

Preparation and management of applications to Home Office.

To advise clients regarding procedure and practice.

Main Tasks

1. Represent clients before immigration judges, in person or in writing as required, including preparation of cases.

2. Draft witness statements, skeleton arguments, representations and other complex documents and letters using word-processor.

3. Preparation and management of applications to the Home Office.

4. Ensure all contact with the client and any other action taken in respect of cases is recorded on attendance notes and regularly updated on the database.

5. Liaise with Immigration Authorities, other agencies, and groups as required.

6. Interview and advise clients regarding Immigration/Asylum law, procedure, and practice. Provide guidance to clients on completion of documents.

7. Attend clients in prison and detention centres and surgeries on occasions where appropriate.

8. Meet specified casework and other targets as set by Supervisor.

9. Keep up-to-date at all time with changes in Immigration/Asylum law by reading, attending training events and using computer for reference purposes.

10. Complete any other records in connection with casework in order to meet IAS requirements maintain statistics and update client files, using manual or computerised systems as appropriate and as required by Management.

11. Maintain professional conduct, comply with IAS standards and uphold the integrity and reputation of IAS at all times.

12. Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Management.

Minimum of one year's full time experience of immigration and asylum legal advice and representation, covering all heads of policy under the immigration rules.
