TOPICS & SPEAKERS

Manjit S. Gill QC, Ramby de Mello and Danny Bazini, will consider the Court's ruling that although the rules concerning the minimum income requirement of £18,600per annum and the manner in which that requirement is to be satisfied are not in themselves unlawful, the rules in many cases cause hardship to various categories of persons including women and ethnic minorities, and that the operation of the same restrictive approach outside the rules under the Human Rights Act will be much more difficult to justify and is likely to lead to a violation of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights in a range of cases.

Manjit, Ramby and Danny have acted on behalf of various appellants in the recent judgment of the Supreme Court case 'MM (Lebanon) and others v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2017] UKSC 10'.
